Dezeen Debate options an “beautiful” extension to a gothic house

Array

The newest version of our weekly Dezeen Debate e-newsletter contains a refurbished Nineteenth-century gothic revival house in Oxford, UK. Subscribe to Dezeen Debate now.

Structure studio Hyde + Hyde added a rear extension with a collection of glazed dwelling areas, which characteristic the quatrefoil motif. This gave the venture its title, Quatrefoil home.

Some commenters had been impressed by the venture, with one applauding its “attractive design parts, beautiful supplies and breathtaking rooms”, whereas one other thought it was “excessive”.

“Impressed by the Gothic revival model and language of the present 1870s townhouse, the brand new modern intervention is an exploration and celebration of decoration,” defined Hyde + Hyde.
